After the sucsses of commando this instalment are so hopeless. It is difficult to take tough cop Adah Sharma seriously when she keeps talking about how she cannot wait to escape her duty and start shopping at the nearest mall, though Commando 2 tries hard to show her as more than just a vacuous girl. Esha Gupta as the mysterious damsel in distress ( or is it femme fatale? ) does a good job, while Freddy Daruwala plays his strength, the baddie. But it is Vidyut who carries the film on his shoulders.

Commando 2 is high on patriotism, but some parts feel a little forced. Zafar, the computer hacker who has never held a gun in his life, is asked why he became a cop instead of pursuing a more profitable profession like IT. Nobody would associate the name Zafar Hussain with a patriot, he passionately says, so he became determined to prove them wrong and lay down his life for the country. When he is killed, Vidyut proclaims, Tumne saabit kar diya.

Commando 2 does not explore a novel theme - it’s the classic good vs evil - but the high-voltage action makes this an entertaining one for fans of the genre.
