Okay. Writing, reading and rating is all part of Mouthshut as we all know. But there is another important thing which is a part of every review. That is, passing a comment. You can comment on a review after you read and rate it, by clicking on the option comment on the opinion. Or you can also read all comments and then and there comment on the review. This was about the procedure for commenting on a review. Let us know more about this important aspect of a review.
Commenting on a review: - After completing reading and rating a review, it is really important that you pass a comment on the review.
What should be my comment? If that is your question then the answer is rather simple.Basically you can put your view on the review, whether it was god or bad, what you feel about the product that was reviewed, reasons for your rating and some encouraging words.
If the writer is in his early days then it would be really warm if people can suggest them with some tips as to how you should go about in this place. Making a newcomer feel warm and greeted is really important.
In any comment, constructive criticism forms and integral part if the review has a flaw then one has to explain as to what it is so that the writer can edit his review accordingly.
Appreciation of a review, if it is really a nice review, is very much acceptable in a comm3ent. This makes the writer feel good and motivates him to write even better stuff.
So, while commenting on a review, it is import6ant for you to know the writer’s status and also one should keep in mind as to how your comment would be taken by the writer. Comments should be such that it presents a review of the review itself(at times) and on the whole it should be in a way so as to be accepted by the writer in the right spirit.
Some Do’s and Don’ts:
Make sure you have read and rated the r review before commenting.
If you have given a lower rating then certainly mention the reasons.
If possible, present a short review of the review itself so that the writer can know his mistakes.
Constructive criticism should prevail. Blunt comments should be avoided.
Comments shouldn’t be in a fashion as to hurt the feelings of a writer.
If the writer is a new comer, then greeting him with warmth and making the writer feels comfortable is a must.
Suggesting tips for newcomers is very important.
All kinds of conflicts should be avoided in the comment section. This doesn’t present a good picture. If you disagree on someone’s view point, alright. M2M him and convey your views and sort it out. But in the comments section, in my opinion, disharmony shouldn’t prevail.
Personal gestures and leisure talks should be restricted to M2M and should not creep into this section. This section should speak only about the review and nothing else.
Reciprocating in a nice manner and in the right spirit for the comments in this section is a definite ’DO’ for the writer.
Importance of Comments: - Your comment on a review reflects your views on the review and the product. By this the writer would be motivated to write better. This can happen only through constructive and warm comments. More so, the writer gets to know his mistake so as to not repeat the same again, if you have mentioned them. By reading the comments not only the writer but also the reader gets benefitted. Because no two views can be same.
What a comment means to me:- Comments mean to me more than the ratings for my reviews. I always insist on commenting because this is where I’ll know what others feel about my review. Every comment inspires me and motivates me to write better and eliminate errors. Last but not least, this is where I’ll get to know people. That is why comments are really important for me.
In conclusion, I would like to say that it is as important to comment on a review as it is to read and rate. By commenting, you are helping your fellow member and so comments should always be constructive and helpful. Keeping this in mind, please, the next time you read a review and rate it, do spend some time commenting on the review.
