Brilliant

There are two ways to watch and review a film. One is to look purely at entertainment value, and other is to look at technical and asthitic values. Company does not have a great entertainment value, but as in all Verma movies, it has great screenplay to keep the audience interested.

The story is simple and told enough times in Bollywood. It is about association between two gangsters and the rivalry developed between them due to certain incidents.

Company has all the elements of a typical Verma film. Brilliant screenplay, good camera work, superb characterisation and brilliant performances. What is great and different in all verma movies is the characterisation. All the characters look important and seem to be performing brilliantly. Ajay Devgan is very good, Mohanlal is as always superb, Antra and Manisha were good, but the man who took everybody by storm is Vivek Oberoi. He did not look like Satya nor like Bhiku Matre nor like Baba, but like Chandu. What is brilliant about this film is there is no excess of anything. No lengthy dialogues, no hyperactive people, but pure expressive faces. In most of the scenes expressions were prominant than dialogues. In all fairness Ajay Devgan should be get an Award for his performance.

As I said earlier there are two ways to look at Company. If you look at it as an entertainer, probably one might not like it. Honestly, it looks like a documentary on Underworld. But, if you look at a film makers point of view, this scores perfect 10.
