I still remeber a time when Compaq Desktops at one’s place made neighbours green with envy but that is history now as Compaq has gone to the dogs in all aspects , except marketing !!!!
My notebook started having motherboard issues and the motherboard was replaced in the first year itself ; that too after 5 visits to the service centre . My notebook also has overheating issues and hangs quite frequently . I was able to take care of the blue screen and hang up issues after an exhaustive search of a lot of forums.
The Compaq website is totally helpless if u decide to change the OS from the one that it was shipped with as drivers are just not available .
I would request people to refrain from buying Compaq as even in my college there is not a single Compaq customer who has not had issues . If Compaq laptops were not so cheap they would have shut shop . I would recommend Dell , HP , Lenovo or Vaio to anyone interested as these are the laptops that have been found to be good by our college’s in house research team .
