My experience of purchasing a Tata Product from Concorde Motors (A TATA Motors Subsidiary) has been enough to put me off the TATA brand for a lifetime. I now actively warn my friends and family that they not repeat my folly.
From the day that I have interacted with Concorde Motors, I have had issues. From a rude salesman to a rude Managing Director (Mr Venkataselu), I have been through their whole line up of unfriendly and uncaring staff. They certainly are consistent in their quality as claimed on their website.
It started with the most common ailment that Indica’s have, a loose fan belt that took more that three or four trips to fix, it then moved to other issues like a powerless a/c, cracked air con switches, tons of rattles and squeaks.
Multiple trips, false promises and shoddy service were synonymous with Concorde.
Add to that the delivery of a dirty vehicle on more than once occasion and a damaged vehicle on another. A couple of times the vehicle was handed over without an explanation of the work done. Just the key being given and I informed that it is parked at the exit!
In another gaffe, I was asked to come and collect the vehicle in the afternoon at 3:00 pm. From 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm I was made to wait for the vehicle. I was told that it was being washed as a goodwill gesture. Lo and behold when I did receive the vehicle, it was as dirty as when I gave it for Service. After one service the stereo stopped working. Mr. Mahesh from the service department informed me that as it was a duplicate (I can show you the warranty Card to prove otherwise), it was inevitable. A trip to the local car accessory store revealed that the wires at the back had been disconnected and one wire cut!. Fifty rupees and ten minutes later, the stereo worked fine and still does.
Callbacks are not done as promised, escalations lead you nowhere. They are a waste of your time and going by what I have experienced, I believe Concorde looks at Customer concerns as an equal waste of time!
I have been through the whole gambit of Services that Concorde has to offer and was thoroughly disappointed to say the least. I had hoped that escalating it to their MD would help; alas he accused me of inflicting damage on my own car just so that I could force Concorde to fix it! It still is a logic that beats me.
I have even mailed TATA Motors (Mr Ravi Kant, Mr Vikram Sinha) to no avail. I even met with Mr. MVS Prasad (Acting CEO, Concorde) who spoke at length on how he appreciated my feedback and how important it is for his Organisation to work on my feedback and improve things, but offered no compensation or redressal for my grievances. I came back wiht the feeling like I am being used as a guniea pig for Concorde to test the worst it has to offer in Customer Service.
Unfortunately for this company, on two occasions when I went to the Dealership to collect my vehicle, I took along colleagues who were interested in buying Indica’s, needless to say; they both are proud and happy owners of Hyundai Santro’s today and are very vocal about why they did not choose TATA.
I am left to rue my decision and regret influencing another friend of mine to pick up an Indica Turbo. I am only holding on to the box I have purchased from you because of the cheap running cost that it offers. I am just waiting for Maruti to launch the Swift powered by the Fiat Multijet or for Hyundai to launch a diesel Getz; I will be the first to exchange my car. By what others have experienced, I am assured of a world class product and Customer centric Service. Going by the Customer Satisfaction Survey results from JD Powers and TNS Global, I am sure that I will not be the only one.
I suggest you do not buy the Indica as even TATA Motors and Concorde Motors refuse to buy it back from me. That is the confidence they have in their product!
If at all you must buy this Taxi, go for Prerana Motors.
