*I bought a TATA Indica Vista quadrajet in February 2011.My user experience thru the past 4200kms has been by and large enjoyable with a few problems due to lethargy on the part of the dealers.
First the GOOD POINTS:
The biggest box in the mid sub compact category - Bigger in Head room, Leg room & elbow space than Ford Figo, Polo, Swift etc at an affordable price.
•The Best possible diesel engine - the globally acclaimed Fiat 1248cc Multijet engine.
•Has lovely low end torque-just ideal in stop and go Metro traffic,
•Good mileage that you can not complain, a constant 16+ in the chaotic Metro traffic of Chennai with the AC constantly on.
•Loads of power- you easily zoom ahead leaving the puffing petrol vehicles way behind with the smooth mill egging for more; you touch 100 in no time on highways.
•Great suspension-soaks up pot holes without much of trouble, unlike the smaller cars.
•Head lights with good reach.
•Comfortable driving position.
•Tiltable steering column.
•Tubeless tires.
•The only mid sub compact diesel with a super engine available within two-three weeks.
Now the BAD POINTS-(Typical tata complaints):
•Panel gaps are bigger and not uniform on a few panels.(See picture)
•Door alignment not proper- my right rear door has a poor alignment since delivery(not yet attended to)
•Dash board tends to rattle on rough roads.
•Horn conked out with in 4 months - Got it replaced on warranty thru OMR motors guindy.
•The wind screen wipers wore out fast; they were replaced during 1st service worn out again.
•Front steering has a tendency to stay out of the circumference of turning.You need to put additional effort on steering to keep within the circle.
•The inner decor is acceptable and not one to rave about.
•AC with an acceptable throw.
Finally the UGLY POINTS-( complacencies):
LARGE INHOUSE dealers like CONCORDE MOTORS AMBATHUR CHENNAI-53 ARE LETHARGIC AND CROWDED WITH POOR ATTENTION TO CUSTOMERS, MY ADVICE STAY CLEAR OF CONCORDE MOTORS.
CAN YOU BELIEVE IT-THEY DELIVERED MY CAR WITH A SMALL DENT ON THE RIGHT DOOR,
SHODDILY PAINTED WITH IMPROPER ALLIGNMENT.(vehicle no TN 09 BH 8796).
The sales person from the delivery centre has been dodging me SO FAR over repairs. While taking delivery of the vehicle they give you a service assessment form to be signed and delivered then and there before taking possession of the vehicle(without inspection or user experience).They want to be perfect on paper.Why not take an assessment after say every 1000kms thru email.
MY ADVICE TO PROSPECTIVE BUYERS -Thorough inspection of TATA vehicles - particularly the panels and doors for proper alignment and scratches-repairs, before sending for registration and taking delivery; It appears TATA does not take pains for the customer in getting a scratch free vehicle.
I am happy with the current Authorized dealer(OMR Motors Guindy), he has been prompt in attending to service and complaints. *
