Continental is situated in the central district of downtown Bangalore, which is an ideal location for any restaurant. Business here is a natural process with a huge floating population frequenting the area and the flock of office executives patronising the several eateries. Continental is pretty exclusive since it holds the distinction of being one of the first Chinese eateries in Bangalore. It was situated on Brigade Road next to Band Box Dry Cleaners before moving to its present location opposite Galaxy Theatre and Nagarjuna Hotel. The food is Indo-Chinese like so many other restaurants in Bangalore. You will find the classical Manchurian (nay! should I say Manjoori, Manjurian or Manchoorian) the eternal favourite of Indians, which is outstanding here. There is a variety of great food available here. Outstanding examples are the Fried Chilli Chicken Dry and Szechwan Crispy vegetables, which are starters and will go well with your booze. Try their other starters too, the chicken Lollipop, Kung Pao chicken or Kaichee (deep fried chicken wings with Garlic) The fried rice and noodles are also very good and ideal accompaniment for the dishes would be Diced Chicken in Szechwan sauce, Gobi Manchurian gravy or Vegetable balls in hot garlic sauce. The Chicken/Vegetarian Fuyong (Chinese Omelette) and Chinese/American Chopsuey are also excellent. For the adventurous type Chicken in Green sauce and Chicken in Oysterc or Hoisin sauce would be tempting. It is however, sad to note that Cont’s food quality is deteriorating and does not match up to its earlier days. Yet the food is far superior to what is being dished out in other restaurants around the area. Give it a try and you will not regret it.
