DESIGN & BUILD:
Coolpad cool 1 has a full metal unibody design which has a matte finish which doesnt attract fingerprints. The phone is a bit heavy and thicker at 8.2 mm. The phone has a black border around the screen which looks odd and is Annoying. The phone has a multi-color Notification LED and a USB TYPE- C Port and Fingerprint Sensor below Camera which is Mirror surfaced.
DISPLAY:
This phone has a 5.5" Full HD IPS display which does not have sharpness and has poor viewing angles. This display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 which is a bit old. The display has thick bezels and the sunlight legibility is Decent.
HARDWARE:
On the hardware front it has a Octa - core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 SoC which is a bit old CPU but gives good performance coupled with an Adreno 510 GPU but I found I found some minor lags in heavy games such as Nova 3 and Asphalt 8. This phone has 4 GB RAM for multitasking, OTG Support, FM Radio and GPS along with Bluetooth 4.1. This phone also has 4G VoLTE support and fully supports JIO 4G. The phone also has an IR Blaster for remote control.
SOFTWARE:
This smartphone is a joint venture of LeECO and Coolpad, this phone runs on LeECOs EUI which was found on Le2 along with Android Marshmallow 6.0.1.
CAMERA:
This phone is has a speciality in its camera as it has a Dual Camera Setup. It has 13 MP F 2.0 Aperture Dual Camera on the rear for depth sensing for getting that DSLR bokeh effect at some extent. This phone has an 8 MP front camera. Front camera has F 2.2 aperture. This camera may helped me in getting some better Low Light photos. But overall the camera performance was below average. The phone supports 4K video recording which does not give that feel and just eats up a lot of memory.
Sound:
The phone has a mono speaker at bottom which performs decent but sound gets distorted at high volumes. The audio output through the 3.5 mm headphone jack is also below average and I was unsatisfied even when I kept volume at 100%.
Battery:
The phone has a 4000 mAh battery which gave a battery backup of 1.5 days with moderate usage and the phone charges in around 2.5 hours.
CONS:
1) NO Micro SD card slot so no Expandable storage.
2) Average Camera even if it has Dual Camera. Also has Auto focusing issues while video shooting.
3) Unrefined OS.
4) Visible Black Borders on sides of Display.
5) No wide angle selfies. Only 2 people come in selfie.
VERDICT:
The phone performs well for its price with a good battery life but the phone has average cameras. The major drawback is that it does not have Expandable storage as you will get only 24 GB to use out of 32 GB so you must think about this before you buy.
