The place, Coorg International where we stayed is a very reasonable and nice place. Food is great and the service is pretty good. You might face some power cuts but the place has a generator to ensure continuous power supply.
The nearby places to visit are Raja Seat, Abby Falls, Nisargadhama and Harangi Dam near Kushalnagar. If you are travelling to Madikeri from Mysore/Srirangapatna side then you can stop by at the Golden Temple (Buddhist temple) at Bylakuppe.
The temperature of the place is just a few degrees lesser than Bangalore, but the weather is pleasant most of the time. Whether in summer or winter, it would be wise to carry some warm clothing for people who arent used to cooler temperatures. Otherwise the cool weather is very enjoyable.
Trekking is always good in such places, though you should be ready for some steep descents and climbs here. You could trek your way to Abby falls, which again is quite untouched by development. For trekking, you should get hold of local guides. You could also get a trip arranged to the coffee and spice garden plantations.
There is a lot of transportation from near and around places. Madikeri is worth a visit -- I?d vouch for that especially for nature and rain lovers.
