Me and wife stayed at madikere.
STAY:
Booked a "homestay" via some website spicetravels/spice coorg, dont remember but the gave us "a resort " calledmothers bounty resorts.well thats fine I thought. Unfortunately that was not a resort, sort of a local lodge and whole place was almost empty. Gave us a poor room to stay but after arguing they gave us better room, but rates were 1500 for a day inclusive bf.
Actually it could be okay for bachelors, but me and wife were appalled. But the place is neat and new and rooms are very small and no fan/tv etc. the beds were still wrapped with plastic cover and over that bed sheets were put.damn.!overall bad place
ROADS
roads were pathetic in madikere. Very poor roads and worse the roads to the mothers bounty resort were so so rocky and steep. totally useless location. unless u have someone who has stayed in a hotel and has given good feedback, dont ever book there blindly or else go to orange county/club mahindra resorts.
The road from bangalore to coorg was very good, u can enjoy the road for its scenic beauty esp from kushalnagar to madikere, that is like the two main staying spots in coorg. the latter being the small town and the former good city-type.
PLACES we went to
1) raja seat, a place from where u can see the sunrise and sunset, supposed to be where the king used to enjoy. nice decent place for evening
2) abbey waterfalls: a steep ride for 3-4 kms, roads not that great but good falls, though currently not much water
3) dubbare: here we did rafting and boating. it was nice experience but the season to go for the gushing rafting is only June but still we enjoyed
4) buddhist temples: this is cool, peaceful local place an area inhabited by tibetians.
5) on the way back, we went to mysore palace, and that was also nice
tips for ppl:
book the place where someone else have gone or take a decent place:
stay in kushalnagar and not madikere, where roads are not good.
Dont expect any great restaurants.on the mainroad in kushalnagar there were some nice hotels
