My wife and me visited Mercara, on june 1st to 3rd.Boarded a KSRTC bus from Mangalore, around 4.00 PM, reached Madikeri around 8 45 PM.Bus ride was rough.Having booked the hotel"CRYSTAL COURT’ through the Net, it was easier.We went to the hotel.The stay was very comfortable, also the dinner was available till 10 PM.Food was very good.
Next day morning, after brakfast, got an Auto, for local site seeing.Engaged auto costs 250 Rs, for all these site visits.First went to ABBEY FALLS, then to Tomb of Coorg King who fought Tippu sultan, then to Shiva temple, Raja seat.As it was Monday, the museum was closed.Driver dropped us at Hotel ATHITHI, for lunch.The food was disappointing below average.Then went to Hotel and retired.Dinner at hotel.
Next day We went to BAGAMANDALA by first bus, Deluxe KSRTC leaving 600 AM from Central Bus stand.Reached 7 15, bathed in the river, as it is considered very sacred, being a SANGAMAM of
three rivers, only two can be seen to naked eye.Change rooms are available on the Banks of the river.Visited the Shiva temple, Known as SOUTHERN KASHI.Then had breakfast in a local hotel.Iddly, Dosa are avilable.Just ok.Then took an auto (80 RS) to visit Thala Kavery.Nice place and Temple.It was very Misty.Returned back to Bagamandala boarded local bus reached Madikeri around 12 30 PM.So two nights and three Days are more than sufficient to See the places in and around.
CRYSTAL COURT is a Good HOTEL and people were helpful, FOOD QUALITY EXCELLENT.
Mr.Girish who is in the Reception, is extremely friendly and very helpful throughout.
Shopping:Buy Coffee from GANESH COFFEE in the market area.Any auto driver will take to that place.Lots of Shops selling Spices.Fruits are Cheap, espsly Hill Banana, very good.
Then We left to KUSHAL NAGAR stayed for overnight, then to MYSORE and back to Chennai.
Over all EXcellent trip.
