Copal Insti: Zero return on investment for most

Hi friends, I joined Copal in 2012 and to say the least I would tell you guys not to go for this course. First and foremost reason is that this course has absolutely no brand value in the KPO industry. I did the course knowing well that they are just offering ’placement assistance’ and not promising a job.

That is cool, since people should get jobs on merit basis and how well they did in the course. But sadly, that was not the case here. I was not selected, although I did very well in the course and got a good grade in it. I think part of the reason was that my experience was not in a KPO firm, but then that was the main reason I did this course since they told me I would be judged on my knowledge after completion and not my background and that this course is meant for people who want to get this kind of an Analyst profile.

I read a review just below and wondering why the person is claiming to have gotten placement support by Copal in external companies (smells fishy, maybe someone from their marketing team). Please be aware, there is no such thing. No one was assisted in getting placed in companies other than Copal and only a few were selected in Copal itself.  But I had expected to get calls from other companies like Evalueserve, Smart cube Genpact, KPMG, Mckinsey etc. No such thing happened. I didn’t even get a call from any such reputed firm. Also no one in the industry (KPO) is aware of this course. I wish I knew this earlier.

Now the course itself: They have hardly a couple of good and knowledgeable faculty (Anand sir and Prakash sir). It is mainly Prakash sir who teaches. He teaches pretty good, but can get a bit rude at times. They taught us Equity Research, how to use Excel (this was really long), Private equity research, trading comps transaction comps. Credit Research was not given much time though and could have been focused on more. But I did not find the course worth 1 lacs and felt it was a very high amount to pay for something like this. Especially since, there is no brand value and no return on investment for most.

Hope my review helped you guys. I would recommend do only those courses that are recognized in the market and worth something. Otherwise it is just wasting your precious money. And for most of us I am sure, 1 lacs is a very big amount for a 3 month course that is not even that good or well known.

Zero multiplied by any number is always zero, hence this course was a zero for me because no matter how much effort and hard work I put in it gave me nothing in return as far as employment in the KPO industry is concerned. Give it a miss without thinking twice and better read a good book on valuation + a course in MS Excel. That will give you exactly the same output with much less investment of time and money.
