Madhur Bhandarkar, through his movies, has always tried to show the truth, no matter whether viewers like it or no and whether viewers accept it or not. He exposed truth in Chandni Bar, Satta, Aan and Page 3. And this time he shows the true face of corporate world in his latest movie, Corporate. And believe me, if you liked his previous movies, you’ll surely like this one!
The main characters of this movie:
Megha Apte-The Aspirant (Minishaa Lamba): Megha was the new member of the Sehgal group of industries. It was her dream to become successful in life.
Ritesh Sahani-The Loyalist (Kay Kay Menon): Ritesh was a man of big plans. He always wanted to do something creative and new for his company, Sehgal group of industries.
Dharmesh Marwah-The Boss (Raj Babbar): He is the chairman of Marwah Group of Industries. His sole aim in half of his life was to go ahead of Sehgal Group pf Industries.
Vinay Sehgal-The Counterpart (Rajat Kapoor): He is the chairman of Sehgal Group of Industries. For him, success and profit was everything and he could do anything to achieve that.
Devyani-The Confidante (Lillette Dubey): Devyani is a highflying journalist. She has contacts with every big person of the corporate world.
Joe Rajan-The Expert (Bharat Dabholkar): Joe is intelligent and uses his sharp intelligence very well. It is his job to know everything about everyone in the corporate world.
Parvez-The Informer (Sandeep Mehta): Parvez was the CEO of the Marwah Group of Industries. It was his job to know each and every secret of his rival. He was an expert in flirting.
Naveen Shroff-The Right Hand (Harsh Chhaya): He was the CEO of Sehgal Group of Industries. He was a perfectionist. He has helped his company everytime and Vinay Sehgal always took help of Naveen for the betterment of company.
And
Nishigandha Dasgupta-The Target (Bipasha Basu): She was the top executive of Sehgal Group of Companies. Nishi and Ritesh were in love with each other. Nishi always tried to make profit for the company. She also did some unimaginable activities for the sake of her company.
The story: Two big giant food companies, Sehgal Group of Companies and Marwah Group of Companies were traditional rivals of each other. Friscon, a big company from US producing aerated drinks was in search of a collabrator in India. The film then shows that to compete against each other, how these two companies compete with each other and till what lengths they go to achieve their motive.
Corporate succeeds in the following ways:
The plot of the movie is an unexplored one in Bollywood. The ‘company v/s company’ story is never used as a major part of a movie in Bollywood. Therefore, Corporate is completely original.
The movie shows true facts about corporate world. It exposes before the common man the true face of the chairman of these big companies and how these people become selfish to achieve their goal.
3.The movie has excellent performances, screenplay and direction.
In every Madhur Bhandarkar movie, a woman has a central part to play. In Chandni Bar, it was Tabu; in Satta, it was Raveena Tandon and in Page 3 it was Konkana Sen Sharma. But here the picture is somewhat different. Though Bipasha Basu is the protagonist in the movie, the movie does not wholly revolve around her life.
The Performances:
Bipasha Basu plays her part perfectly. She peforms as much as her character had demanded and does not disappoint, even in the emotional scenes. With Corporate, Bipasha proves that she is capable of doing even non-glamorous roles.
Kay Kay Menon was fine too! In the first half, he may disappoint, but he acts brilliantly in the second half. He is an actor to watch!
Rajat Kapoor was too good. Raj Babbar was first rate. Harsh Chaaya was outstanding and delivers a formal peformance. Sandeep Mehta was okay. Same for Bharat Dabholkar. Lillette Dubey was marvelous. For this actress, getting into any character is quite easy!
Sammir Dattani as Anmol Rawat was laughable! He was completely wasted. He gets to speak only in the beginning of the movie. He gets lost then and in the second half and doesn’t speak a word. I cant understand why Madhurji added this character and why Sammir Dattani agreed to do such role. Minishaa Lamba (Last seen in ‘Yahaan’) looks beautiful and performs beautifully.
The movie has lots of special appearances. Payal Rohatgi, Kailash Kher, Manoj Joshi, Prahlad Kakkar, Ashok Pandit, Javed Akhtar and Brinda Parekh are seen in guest appearances in this movie. Out of these, some like Payal Rohatgi and Manoj Joshi were completely wasted
The Work of the Crew:
Only three songs are in the movie and they are not boring and do not hamper the pace of the movie. Shamir Tandon’s music was alright.
Mahesh Limaye’s cinematography was perfect. Dialogues were nice. Screenplay was first rate.
Madhur Bhandarkar’s direction was flawless. The movie becomes a bit boring in the first half but becomes gripping and interesting in the second half, when lots of undesirable twists occur in the movie.
The entire movie looks true. Also, the movie is made in such a way that everyone can understand it.
On the whole, Corporate is perfect and superb. It shows the true face of this corporate world. It shows how big companies can do anything and even illegal things to achieve their goal. A must watch! Go for it!!
