Country Club, the name that reminds(everyone in India)
about the big banners that you have seen on roads, parties that they
organize, the big brand ambassadors and the publicity that goes along.
Every one who does not have the true picture wants to get associated to
this club. Today let me try to bring down the veil under which country
club hides and plays its dirty stokes.
One
person "Mr. Srinivas" from the Country Club approached with a humble
smile. He said that I could become a lifetime free member of the club
as there is a special offer and in addition I would be given air fare
to fly to Goa in addition to
accommodation at Country Club Goa. To add to that I would be given 3
plots of land absolutely free @ Tumkur, something that made my eyes
dreamy. All this for just 1.15 lakhs. When I said just, it is not JUST
for me. It is a big amount. I am just a salaried income guy like you.
But for that amount if I can get a membership in the great COUNTRY Club
and get some investment as land as well, what’s wrong. But I refused
the first day and told I will contact them later.
Slowly my senses came back to normal. I doubted the person itself. So, I went to the BTM office in Bangalore
and talked to the boss, if I am not wrong Mr. David I suppose. With a
country club board in front of the office and people from Country club
all over like a real office setup, I felt, yes, it is happening. This
is all true. They told the registration will happen in 3 months but I
need to aishwaryasingh23 the registration cost upfront. I trusted not them, but the
name of the brand and went about taking the membership. So, on June
3rd, 2006, on my birthday I went about to take the membership.
Now my trouble a worry started.
The holiday package that they promised turned to be the most insulting experience. My trip to Goa
was as pathetic as it can get. When I went there, there was no booking
at the Country Club Goa Resorts [Bangalore Country Club was supposed to
book it for me]. Even funnier, they were shocked to see me there. It
was liked I had walked into a un-welcomed marriage hall. Then, I had to
explain to them that I am a member and then contacted the Bangalore
office and finally after about an hour, a room was allocated to me.
Further down, they took us on a tour which was a good experience. While
returning, again, they had informed me that they would book the return
tickets and now, there was no return ticket. They informed that return
is supposed to be booked by myself. After 1 hour of debating which was
all in vein, I was irritated. I had a meeting to attend to the next day
so I thought of taking my own flight. Finally when I was speaking to a
travel agent, I was told that they would book the flight for me.
Finally I landed back in Bangalore.
I thought that it was just a rough patch and I need to forget it.
Troubles with Land.
When I returned back to Bangalore,
I hoped that they will call regarding the Land Registrations. But,
there again I was wrong. Finally I decided to give a call. Again no
use. Repeated calls - NO USE. They I started going to their office to
check out things. Every time I went to their office, they spoke some
rubbish timelines about land registration. Some times two weeks,
sometimes two months. Now it has been almost two years and still the
registration is not done. All I gave is two allotment letters. When I
asked about the third allotment letter, they said, all they have
promised is two allotment letters. I need to settle down to 2 plots.
Over
the months, I have gone irritated and frustrated by the Country Clubs
attitude. The worst. Every month I get a call to aishwaryasingh23 my membership fees
for the year, which they promised to be free. I don’t know how many of
you guys have had the same experiences.
If there are any, let’s try to join our voices to get them to do justice.
