We got into their traps in November, but somehow managed to come out of it, with the help of online reviews. Feeling relieved.
I have heard about the gifts they give, and we were actually thinking of taking any holiday membership. So I went and signed the coupon, and as expected, we got a call too. Didnt check reviews, as we just thought, ll attend the meeting, and take up the free holiday voucher, utilize it, and then join if its good.
We attended the meeting, and the way they spoke was all attractive. Than attractive, I would say they were making us take hasty decisions. Few words were touching our self esteem. And the manager said the offer was there only for that day. It was as if we kept our brains at home and went there, on that day. It didnt occur that my friend who has already joined was given the same set of offers. (My friend didnt tell me that he tried to cancel the membership, but failed)
Those guys just sat with us, and didnt let us have the freedom of discussing withing the family too. We didnt think of checking online reviews too then. We fell into their traps. Paid through credit card, for a 12 months EMI. Nearly 80k. Signed the agreement and came home.
After coming home by 11PM, we just started reading the reviews. Were shocked to the core. Our precious savings. Damn. Then we took the agreement, and started reading. These guys had made changes after we signed it. They said 30 years, but as per agreement it was 5 yrs. And life time club membership promised, but they give only only a years membership. And so many contradictions like this. We wanted to cancel. Luckily, we found a review, which was great. That was really helpful.
We called our Citibank customer care, was told to raise dispute, when the amount comes to our unbilled. Within 3 days, it got reflected in our unbilled, then we called customer care, raised dispute under Service Not Rendered. They said it will take 45-180 days for investigation.
In the meantime, I called the Country Club manager, told him the agreement is contradictory, he still maintained the nonsense what was promised. I recorded all the conversation, and told him I want to cancel, to which he didnt agree.
Called up AIRDA, raised issue with them too. Kept mailing AIRDA and Country Club on cancellation. Citibank gave temporary credit. We called Citibank in between, and were asked to wait. And finally now, a week back, they have given permanent credit. Hurray! We won.
Thanks to the person who had written that review in one of the sites. Just wanted all of you, who realize atleast immediately after joining, to try this.
Please dont fall into this trap. Useless guys.
