Updating this review with a more appropriate headline (Oct 28, 2005):
Our last visit to this sad place was made memorable by mosquito bites and the fact that the clowns serving us refused to light up coils (the mosquito repellent mats were ineffective)! Finally they relented, however we were quite drained (of blood and energy with all that swatting and cursing).
Someone from Country Club called and promised to redress our issues: however, this is only because a friend of mine was reached by them and I told him to think of it only after theyve resolved the problems. Fat chance!

Country Club sales people promise you the moon but the end product/service is actually below par.
The salesman who sold us the membership had told us that it would give us access to all the clubs anywhere in the country. Now were told that we need to pay extra and upgrade if we want access beyond 3 clubs in Bangalore. Now thats what I call a con job.
Repeated calls to their office have resulted in no action and the issue remains unresolved!!! In fact, their chairman Rajeev Reddy had himself said in several issues of their monthly newsletter that membership to the club is valid for the entire chain.
For starters, the food is very mediocre - going by our experience with 3 clubs, of which 2 are in Bangalore and 1 in Mysore. Some of the stuff we ordered was almost inedible - for example the Virgin Mary we tried was so sour that it was difficult to make conversation for the rest of the evening through contorted lips.
Mysores club is bang on the highway which doesnt make it a great place to stay with all the traffic noise. Also, the garden is full of people getting sloshed into the late hours which isnt very pleasant if youre trying to catch some shut-eye.
The next morning, we were delayed because the taps had run dry. There was no bar in the club although they get outside liquor. There was no tea/coffee available until 10 am and, of course, no question of an early breakfast: the kitchen doesnt open until 10!
While the other facilities are ok, one feels cheated by the changing terms & conditions, inadequate catering and the fact that accommodation is never available (weve tried to get a room in the Mysore club on a couple of occasions after learning there had been some improvements) even a fortnight in advance.
This is to warn all of you (and please tell your friends too) to steer clear of Country Club.
