An Intense Thriller You Shouldn’t Miss

A high-octane and intense thriller, Crazxy will leave the audience on a rollercoaster of emotions and suspense. Directed by Girish Kohli, the movie revolves around the life of Dr. Abhimanyu Sood, a surgeon whose life is completely turned around with a chilling phone call. Taking inspiration from the 2013 Tom Hardy-starrer Locke, Crazxy has been cleverly adapted to suit the Indian context and hence becomes relatable as well as thrilling. The fact that the movie employs a single location—a car—increases the tension and suspense of the film. With Sohum Shah at the helm, I was eagerly looking forward to seeing the mayhem on the big screen!

The Plot:

Crazxy is about Dr. Abhimanyu Sood, played by Sohum Shah, who comes across as a fine surgeon but a poor father and an unethical human. His world turns upside down when he gets a call that his daughter, Vedika, who has Down Syndrome, has been kidnapped. He is told to drive to a particular place somewhere outside Delhi and leave a ransom there. On the way, he gets various calls, from his wife, mistress, colleague, etc., which increases the intensity of the story. With the progression of the movie, we come across the true personality of Dr. Abhimanyu. The whole mess ends up at the climax and we are left at the edge of our seats.

Performances:

Sohum Shah is known for his intense roles, but Crazxy by far feels his best performance. From dialogue delivery to range of emotions, he surpasses all expectations. The other characters do not get much screen time, but deliver fair performances. Nimisha Sajayan, Tinnu Anand, and Shilpa Shukla enhance the character equations. Their dialogue exchange comes across as real and interesting. Sohum’s nuanced and layered making him relatable despite his flaws. Overall, the performances in Crazxy are a highlight of the film, elevating the story and making it a compelling watch.

Standout Elements:

Girish Kohli’s writing and direction are impressive, crafting a taut story. The music, written by Vishal Bhardwaj and Gulzar, enhances the emotional value of the film. The cinematography by Kuldeep Mamania and Sunil Borkar is superb. The high-speed car chases were masterfully filmed. I enjoyed how the film ratcheted up tension during the call sequences. Crazxy as a film deals with intense themes like redemption, family relationships, and faith. The pacing of the film is excellent, making sure that tension gradually increases.

Should You Watch It?

It was a great experience watching Crazxy on the big screen. It exhibits Sohum Shah’s acting abilities and Girish Kohli’s talents as a writer. Those who enjoy intense thrillers laden with emotions should definitely catch Crazxy. The only serious drawback is the dialogues. They are not worth the high-voltage action. Additionally, additional screen time to the other actors would have made the film feel complete. Nevertheless, the film is a thrill for those who enjoy being on the edge of their seats.
