I am Akash Dwivedi and this is my very first post on this great site.
I have something to discuss here coz I am feeling confused by being in dilemma for such a long time; and finds nobody to give his/her views on this topic. I have read some nice articles in newpaper as well as on internet but did’nt find the thoughts
of common people out there, who love this game from the depth of their heart. I have many issues to discuss here.
As we indians are mad behind the most interesting, exciting and glamorous sport, yes I am writing about Cricket - The so called ’ The Game of Gentlemen’. I want to put some light on some issues related to this game.
Before begin my thoughts I must clear that I am not a critic, just need some nice discussion and comments on this topic coz it is also an important issue for us.
Here I start my review - Friends we all know that Cricket in our country is treated as one of the religion, people of every age group are fond of watching cricket, discussing about cricketers performance, life style, career and their future. Even
many of us just pray these stars. Whenever our team is on field, life almost stops working, all of cricket lovers busy with their Tv, Radio, or internet in knowing the latest score. The game is playing somewhere but its fans are looking busy
everywhere. Thats true to some extent that there is devoting their precious time in just knowing the score and in the last what they will get - its very fine if our team wins the match but what if they lost, we just sit and discuss who is the bad man today.
Firstly I want to know that whether these persons really deserve these emotions and treatment.
Secondly we all know the issue of out beloved Saurav Ganguly, what is happening with him we all are aware of the things, is it fine to treat him like an ordinary cricketer even after his so long dedication to this game. We all know the condition &
performance of our cricket team before Saurav became the skipper of the team and now he is not getting respect what he deserve from all of us.
Next, just one win and we forget all last below average performances of our team in the previous matches.
And in the last, Our players become celebrity very soon just due to active media and everlasting Ad campaigns, making them rich and famous in very short time. But how to handle when they start performing not so well, whether they need some break to
be fresh or continue with below average performance and stand right in the entry gate of new and upcoming players.
In my opinion our selectors should not take any more risk and stop these trials. Better they try to make best squad for the upcoming World Cup next year in West Indies. Indian Sqaud must consist of some experienced & senior players as well as new, young & energetic blood; all with full fledged enthusiasm and team spirit.
All the very best to Indian Cricket team for upcoming World Cup 2007.
