Though the national game of India is Hockey, call up any child say 6-7 yr old an ask which is the game he loves the most, , , it wud be undoubtly, majority of the times, CRICKET, , , , , , ask him abt Mohan Bagan and he would sound confused but ask him to talk about Sachin, Rahul or Dhoni, , , , , , , he would go on and on and on.
Consider it a point to rejoice or regret for, , , , India is one real Cricket crazy nation where come the Big Cups between the so called Rival nations, , , , the whole city would shut down the shutters, take a sick leave from the office and skip work to sit at home and enjoy the game. Where loosing a in finals would cause a wave of depression amongst the citizens and the match loosers or catch dropers become the talk of the town and point of criticism but again so kind is the Indian public , , , let the team win a single interesting game opposite to one of the tough to win nations and all crackers , rallies with the National Flag and celebrations are around like the another National Festival.
Pakistan is the team against which Indians would never pardon their team to loose but win the game and the cricketers would earn a lot of praises, fan following and not to be mentioned lot of grands in terms of ad campaigns. The sentiments of our countrymen attached to the game are so strong as like the two countries are fighting in the battlefield and the players are the warriors, it becomes like a life death situation where there have been times when people have been hospitalized for due to stress or heartbreak during the match and match results.
This has its own pros and cons since this binds our nation and it feels really good when the country with the most diversity in terms of religioin, caste, creed, language...comes together n celebrates the victory of its team n mourns for the matches lost. But it also becomes a matter of shame when few of the countryman over obsessed with the game start misbehaving on the ground , not takin it with the sporting spirit throwing bottles and garabage at the winning rival team. It again is a matter of concern when the other games and sports , including our own National game, are ignored or not financed or sponsored because of the hype that cricket get due to the fan following by us, due to which many of the upcoming and talented youngsters are not getting the chance to bring India of the world map.
But anyways NO Comparison for Cricket in India.
