Cricket a Religion in gods own country ?

Although I am not into much of this game I can’t avoid it either if I get to see a live match in TV. I would like to compile in this review something interesting which I found  about this game

This game more than a game has evolved into a fanaticism, In India in particular a person might not have place to live food to eat but would stop everything to watch this game over a roadside shop. The game is into the culture in such a way that the players have been elated to such a level that is far above politicians and movie stars. Not to forget the kind of money involved in this game. Top players are the alltime favorites for advertisement campaigns. The people in this country would buy anything if their favourite cricket start features in the ad.

A match between India and Pakistan is no less than a War between these two countries.I am sure that the country men may even agree to play a deciding match just as in Lagaan movie style to decide the fate of Kashmir.  Winning a match against this country has been more important to us more than to win the world cup.

This Game though has been able to gain such popularity no doubt it has its own share of politics in it. There have been always speculations of the selection of players in a game. With state own lobby’s trying to have their players included in a team. There are lot of internal things that decide on who remains in a team and who leaves. The position of players , captaincy etc., are those topics that have provided lots of masala to the media. An oncoming series brings in great opportunity to the media to show about this game.

One of the most sorry part of this game or any game for the sake in this country is that In a country with such a vast population we find it hard to find able players whom we could represent our country and win laurels in games like Cricket, football, hockey or for the matter of fact in Tracks and field in Atheletics , olympics. Its not that we do not have talent but even after the relevant amount of fund being allocated to the respective ministry or departments those either are spent unwisely or go into the pockets of certain indivduals. India has a vast talent pool and a great audience that is ready to stop its works to watch an intersting gaming event. We are witnesses to the fact that when we have a important match going on a deserted road or market is a common sight. The whole entertainment channels , news media have a mouthful to talk during such events but all this said we still are unable to promote talent only because of the greedy few...

In India the game being more than a game and also called a religion with statements portraying their favourite players as god.
