The Discovery Channel (Which is also part of Arts & Entertainment Channel, Animal Planet, History Channel etc)
brings us many wonderful, educational, entertaining and most interesting shows.
Today I am writing about, Steve Irwin...The Crocodile Hunter!First of all Id like to say that no animals are ever hunted on this show. Second, Id like to say that this show is about all animals, not just crocodiles. Mr. Irwin got the name Crocodile Hunter, because he, like his father, have a passion for crocs.(And all other animals too)
Mr. Irwin and his wife, Teri are the curators of a wildlife park and zoo in Australia. They are world renound animal handlers and have been to almost every country to help with animal preservation and teach people that Animals are people too.
Ive seen Steve get right in the swamps with crocodiles to bring one up to the surface for television viewers, like me, to see close up. He goes on, in his most excited way of getting facts across, about how even the ugly croc is actually a beautiful reptile. Created long before we were.
He goes on by showing us the crocs teeth and explaining how mother nature has helped this great reptile to adapt to millions of years of change.
Ive seen Steve catch the most venomous of snakes and look lovingly at it, telling us all the wonders of how a snake works. Hes done this while the snake tries to strike and let me tell you, they sometimes do actually bite him.
Steve has gone below to swim with sharks and whales. Hes brought us, his audience along to see how dingos live. He includes us in his treks into jungles to live among the chimps for a day. We watch as he feed exotic birds. I even felt as though I was right there when he was upon a great elephant.
What Steve, his wife and his crew really try to do, is give us some insight. There are so many more animals, reptiles, birds, rodents and yes even lowly insects then there are people. They try to show us how mother nature has built each creature (including ourselves!)and how important each is to the survival of our planet.
I recommend this show (and most Discovery shows) highly. It is a wonderful and interesting learning experience.
