I went to Crossword recently to check out cook books and works of fiction. The range of books available unfortunately were really sad. Most of the authors are either out of stock or have never been heard of. Its quite harrowing when people in a book store have very little idea of Good authors or USP’s of books. The whole experience turns very dry. I would suggest training the staff so they have some idea as to what the authors style of writing is or even as to whether the book is on the authors bestselling list.
The Food and Drink section could do with a few more international titles and foodie magazines from India.
Crossword used to be one of the biggest bookstores in Pune but now has close competition form Landmark on Moledina road, (interestingly- not listed on this website) and earlier fans of the crossword store will feel the difference if they shop at Landmark.
Quick improvement, more titles, pro-active staff and place to park should bring back the crowds.
