You know pals! I am big big fan of chinese martial art movies like those of Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee etc. I have seen all the talked about movies from Big Boss to Rush hour so this tine also, going with the tradition I went to see Crouching Tiger... with lot of hopes more so because it has recieved 10 Oscar Nominations (and is destined to be undisputed winner in International film category award) but, but but but.... I am sorry to state here that this one was much ado about nothing.
Except for just a couple of scenes where one would be forced to appreciate the direction, cinematography and special effects by Ang Lees team, there is nothing much to take home.
The movie was slow without a very sound story line (A mans quest to regain his legendary sword and also to take revenge of his masters death). You anyways do not expect much of an acting from chinese movies but the fight scenes were to exaggerated to be likeable. I mean people balancing themselves on tree leaves, water and fighting (becoz they know some voodaan art) and flying all over the place. All this gets a little too much to take. Things would have been simpler if they had shown less of such idiotic scenes. You know one would appreciate a Matrix for the sheer novelty factor but in this movie evry single scene was an exaggerated matrix scene.
Rest all said and done there are certainly a couple of breathtaking scenes that bring solace to otherwise pertrubed soul.....
About the rest ..u guys watch it and let me know
