Hi guys, Im back again with new tips on computer hardware...
This time I would like to write on Internal Modems.
THIS REVIEW IS NOT WITH RESPECT TO ANY PRODUCT.... ITS HOW TO SOLVE THE ISSUE WITH INTERNAL MODEMS
I think by the time you reach this article... ur modem should be working fine.
But there are few tips to check weather your modem is using optimum power, or is it reliable... well lets not waste time.
First of all check there is dial tone in the phone line.and also make sure that you properly seated the phone line in the Modem Jack...(LINE).
The first thing you need to check is ... weather its properly seated in the slot on the motherboard... if not please reseat the Modem.
also check a different slot if available.
So check the proper driver is installed in the device manager ... You can get the driver in the Driver CD that is shipped with ur modem.
Once you are done with that....
The best way to reinstall the driver is .... uninstall completely the previous driver. and go with a fresh installation.
And now once you install the driver .... check the modem properties in the Control panel>Phone and Modem>Here you need to be quite technically sound. or use your common sense :)
In the Modem Properties tab click on the Advance TAB and ...look for a tab called QUERY MODEM. Once you click that The system automatically check weather its working or not.
And also make sure which ISP you are calling... I mean check the phone number you are dialling out.
If its a Windows ME or Windows XP(HOME or PRO).
The best way to troubleshoot is run system restore(YOU CAN USE THIS IF YOUR MODEM WAS WORKING FINE EARLIER AND SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING AFTER SOME TIME---MAY BE YOU MADE SOME CHANGE UNKNOWINGLY)
How to system restore..... Click on start>program>accessories>system tools>system restore.
This has a user frendly GUI... its very simple and teaches how to do it ... step by step.
