I bought a videocon satellite DVD along with a free subscription to 6 months Karnataka Diamond pack. Guess what - I paid- Rs. 2690 for the DVD and Rs.300 for installation totalling to Rs. 3000.00 approximately. What I get is Rs.1650.00 worth subscription plus a DVD with lot many option which would cost you around Rs.1500.00. So basically with zero investment you get a DTH connection, unlike other DTH providers where you have pay for the Set Top Box.
The installation process was very nice and the service stanard at par with any other DTH providers. Like everybody else my DVD had also the problem of excessive brightness, but there was another engineer? from Videocon DTH, who fixed the problem within 30 mins from the time of installation. The next problem I faced was- every 10-15 mins a message was coming like the "system was looking for software updates". But this problem was also solved within 24 hours. For this problem I got a call from the service engineer immediately after I raised a complaint via call centre. The service engineer was very polite and always willing to help me and took utmost care to solve the problem. Although the it took sometime (5 to 6 hrs) to resolve the issue, but now I am happy that its resolved.
I call it the DTH for common man because you get to see all the channel with a monthly charge of Rs 275.00. I was using Tata Sky before and belive me for the same package you have to pay around Rs. 400.00 plus. The picture and sound quality is also good. The best thing is that you can connect your home theatre to the DVD and even while watching TV you can enjoy the great sound effects.
I have also read many review on net before buying this product. Almost everybody has faced some intial problems with Videocon DTH, but at the same time everybody thinks that they are new to they market and they are working on the issues. So, I would recomend this product and request all to have some paitence initially.
