I was never in in favour of buying a d2h services as I was really not concerned about real good video and sound quality from a cable tv operator and was only concerned bout how many channels I m getting (probably because in kolkata and pune , 2 cities I lived in, had moderate picture and sound quality from local cable tv operator, even in bangalore 3 years back quality of signal for local cable operator was not that bad). But recently when I returned to bangalore I was really shocked to see the real poor quality of local cable tv signal. Channel v has become radio channel (as only non viewable noice apppears on screen), no espn or star sports (no EPL) although they appear 1nce in 2 months if there is an importaint match (only cricket), they remove channels as per their choice.they removed ten sports at wrestlemania day, removed star sports at man u vs chelsea day.. The only bengali channel I used to see "e tv bangla " also got removed in a very fine day...moreoverchannel shuffling is another big headache... They just shuffle channel without any information...so its an eveydays practise to tune ur channels again and again set them as favourites... They changed star one in a low frequency signal, where only grains can be viewed.pic and sound quality sucks and the best part is arrogent cable walah... He only comes to ask for more money..previously he was taking 170, then he increased this to 200 now he wants to charge 230... Whenever I complained about bad pic and sound he says " sir kal aake pura change karta" but that kal never came in last 9 months. I was so frustrated and decide to end this problem once and for all....

So I started searching for a good DTH system. Previously I have seen tata sky a/v quality and was quite impressed with that. But when I referred mouthshut, I changed my decision, moreover the channel packages were so costly. Reliance big TV has worst channel pack. All the channels I watch was so scattered in all kind of packages.1 day I took time and went to a dealer to see all dth services audio and video quality..there is almost no difference in it except sun HD. But everybody told me not to buy sun as customer service is worst and packages are costly.

I again came back and researched in net where I saw good review for videocon d2h, I was not considering videocon as its just new in this field and the dealer where I went to check all the services told me that customer care for videocon is not good and thats why they have stopped selling that (most probably because he was trying to sell me sun hd or tata sky) .i checked d2h’s channel packages and was really impressed. All Hindi entertainment channel is there itself in the basic cheaper gold pack (150 Rs).all music channels including channel v, 9xm and music India and a new channel zing is included.the best part is almost all Bengali channels available are there in this package. I was more than happy. Only things which were missing were English news channels(although ndtv 24/7 is there in basic pack), English movie channels ( HBO, star movies, axn, zee studio), NDTV Good Times(i love this channel and sports channels (ESPN, star sports, neo cricket, neo sports and ten sports).but bang.. If u want to get all channels there is diamond pack only for 275. I normally don’t get time to watch English movies, beside already having lots of movies saved in my hardisk and DVDs. So thought of taking gold pack with sports channel and lifestyle pack(only for ndtv good times) as add on.

I reffered MS and found out customer service is good in vid d2h so decided to go with it and went to another dealer (pooja electronics , KR Puram, Bangalore) .he recommended d2h only and informed me that sports pack is free now with gold pack.moreover 4 month subscription for gold pack is free too. I was really excited and happy.set top box package cost me 1390+300 installation, i wanted to put lifestyle package as add on but decided to go slow this time. Dealer informed me that at any time I can add on packages.he called up customer care and gave serial no and my details.this conversation took 6-7 min, immediately my customer id came to my mobile as a sms. Within a minute, a message came saying they have scheduled installation after 2 days.they neatly mentioned date and time in the message, everything happened by 10.30 night. I was happy with the professional approach .

Next day morning a call came by 9 o clock, a person from vid d2h asked me whether they can come then only for installation. I was amused. They are beating their own timeline. I was in office so I told my dad to guide the guy.he came and installed it very smoothly and professionally.the work really looked clean and he was equipped with all the equipment he needed.the guy finished installation within an hour and a half and filled the caf form and left.at that time power was not there so nobody could see how the reception is coming.

When power came my brother in law tried to start it but it showed card expired or something. He again called the installation guy.he said he will be coming by 7 o clock evening.meanwhile my dad tried to start it again and it got started.the picture and sound quality is superb as expected, remote is user friendly.moreover the installation guy again beat his own timeline and came within an hour to rectify the problem but we told him the problem is solved.

There were another bonus waiting for me. While surfing I saw ndtv good times is coming without any add on pack. Now its almost a month I m using this dth system. Since now no problems ..one day morning a message came in dth saying two more new channel is added.the pop mosaic feature is good and active games are good time pass. Only the remote is not really good to hold..too flimsy and flat, tata sky remote is better.but does that really matter???

Overall, I m really satisfied with the system.Thank you mouthshut once again for making my decision taking process easy.
