We have been using Videocon d2h in a village here near Chennai for over 3 months now. The reason for purchasing this product is that it had a majority of channels at a low cost and low subscription.The reason for choosing this over the other brands is that the shopkeeper informed us there was a separate local customer care team for this brand whereas the other brand customer care people (field technicians) had to come from the Chennai city which is 70 kms away. Also, we were using Tata sky earlier and we wanted to cut down the subscription cost. Tata Sky had exemplary signal quality (well, in rains all the DTH signals go for a six, cannot target any particular brand, we have to live with the truth), but if u want the full deal in Tata Sky, u’ll have to shell out close to 5000 bucks a year and it had many unwanted and so called value added service channels. I say NAY! Videocon D2H keeps the deal simple. Upon a cursory comparison of similar new brands, the choice of channels* (for me at least) was most in line with what I needed, and on top of it* at the best price. And the full range of channels (with all the sports channels and movie channels et al) is Rs. 275/- plus taxes per month. 6 month pack gives 15 days free and 12 month pack gives 1 month free. To be honest, I can clearly see that the video signal quality of Videocon D2H was discernably lower* (after having watched Tata sky for over 2 years) but it is not complainable. I could not hear any differences in audio quality, at some times I could hear it was better. Online interface of D2H website is also simple and I have easily made topup from the website using internet banking.
