DA BANG on Writers

Well! I am still searching for the writers! Where are they hidden?? Dilip Shukla and Abhinav Kashyap, kudos to you to write a non-story. How many seconds did you guys actually work on it?? Being a brother of the great film maker Anurag Kashyap, Abhinav disappointed on this one. I didn’t find anybody’s acting or role good enough except our stylish, mass-lover hero Salmaan Khan as Robinhood Pandey urf Chulbul Pandey.

Let me come to the non-existent plot first. There is a family, of a dabanng cop named Chulbul Pandey, who didn’t have fears of any bad elements in UP background, but yes he didn’t had any issue of money, since he looted the bad guys and took the money for himself, also use to help his supporting police staff, and others. He is the loving cop perfectly suited to the backdrop of UP, and has a mother (Dimple Kapadia), and step father Prajapati pandey (Vinod Khanna), and a step brother Makkhi urf Makkhanchand Pandey (Arbaz Khan). Makkhi loves Nirmala (Mahi Gill), and Chulbul falls in love with the debutante Rajjo (Sonakshi Sinha), in the midst of fighting with goons, but then a young netaji Chedi Singh (Sonu Sood) falls in his way. He tried to seperate the non-bonded family, and even got success, but in the end, Chulbul finishes his chapter. Ok.

Now, the negative points first - Scenes lack inter-connection, and some scenes even defy logics - a scene where Chulbul enters in Makkhi’s marriage and sat alongwith his love to get marry and after that Nirmala’s father and Makkhi’s father felt that this deteriote their image and Nirmala’s father took her daughter away. Other scene, just after the suicide of Rajjo’s father, Chulbul took her and marry her, she didn’t shed a tear, and just accept the offer. There are more. Other negativities include, worst-ever supported background score - whoever has given it, I can just say, please try to use relevant music. Salman’s theme music was fine, but everything else is too bad. Then comes lots of songs - 3 songs before interval and 1-2 after that. Music is ordinary, by Sajid-Wajid, although suitable perfectly for the characters and the mood of the movie. The title song "Hud Hud Dabangg Dabanng", seems a copy of Omkara title song. I find only one song as above ordinary "Hamka peeni hai", in both, the music, and the picturisation. But the title song is also find suitable to watch, and that is just because of Salmaan.

Sonakshi, tries to act but failed on every attempt. She looks more manly just like his father Shatrughan Sinha, so I think, she is not a right choice for becoming a future heroine. Characterization (except Chulbul’s character) fails, and good actors wasted - Om Puri (repeated the similar looking role of a corrupted policeman just like ’Baabarr’ one), Mahesh Manjrekar (In the role of bewda father of Rajjo, overacted to behave like a drunkard), and Anupam Kher (as a nice Home Minister of UP) got just few reels and fewer dialogues. Direction by Abhinav Kashyap is not upto the mark, and have glitches of "Do-as-your-producer-want", since Arbaz is producer. Action also let down, and you can see some impossible actions going here and there (but the mass will love it), and director even try to fake special effects, which can be easily found. Pranav Dhiwar, this time you misses what you achieved in "The film Emotional Atyachar", since this time even editing is not good.

Ok, few positives now - Salman Khan, the perfect looking UP maseeha police inspector Chulbul Pandey, his characterization is ultimate thinking and gave a feel of the dhaansu characterization of Amitabh Bachchan of ’Bunty aur Babli’, also given some great and masses-loving dialogues, and he looks a darling in the role. If every policeman of these corrupt states become dabanng like him, I think, only few days are required to clear the bad goons from there. His walking style, talking style, dancing style, romancing style and comic timing is awesome. His dialogues like, "Are haan kameeni se yaad aaya bhabhiji kaisi hain", and "Are haan Haramzaade se yaad aaya aapke pujya pitaji kaise hain", suited perfectly to his dialogue delivery style. Sonu Sood also look better in a bindaas rural young politician, who do every thing as he likes.

So, if you love Salman, you can have a good time, and if you liked ’Wanted’, probably you’ll like this one too, but hey, except him, you didn’t find anything else - a total waste of money. A total fuss Bang is what this movie is all about as far as my view is considered. Its 1/5 for the whole movie, but Salman makes it a 2/5 for me.

Phew! this was my team’s movie outing, so I did save money!
