Zeal Over the Wheels

Short Introductory Note about my car: I own a Cielo-Nexia GLE , 1997 model.Engine: Type MPFIPower 92 PS @ 5400 rpmMax. Torque 13.9 kg-m @ 3250 rpmEngine:  Pros: As most of us know, Daewoo was the first manufacturer to introduce the MPFI engine equipped cars in india. In 1995 when the cielo entered in the indian market, the cars available wereAmbassador , Fiat , Maruti etc., Cons: Engine is a bit noisy compared to the ford and Chevrolet engines. Gear shift is bit sick. Lacks slick motion.

Performance:Pros:   Performance of  the cielo is an unmatching one when it was launched in india. The car reached the triple digit figures in less than 13 seconds and the top whack reached was 175 kmph. When I tested with the dynamometer , . the cielos torque is available of over 10.5 kgm~~13 Kgm from 2000 Rpm onwards upto 3500 Rpm. This means the rollon timings were impressive.     The car takes only 17.9 seconds to reach from 40-100 kmph in 4th gear against 26 seconds taken by Maruti Esteem , 21 seconds taken by Accent 1.6 Petrol , and 20 seconds by Indica DLG Turbo. So the high way driving is very smooth and less demanding in changing gears.

The car can accelerate in any gear( for example, I used to accelerate from 35kmph onwards in 5th gear with ease).[ The performance of other cars were taken from the AutoCar , MotorIndia and Overdrive Magazines]

The braking is also amazing in Cielo. I have never felt ’left out’ by the brakes. The brakes are excellent and able to the stop the car in whichever speed the car goes.  I ponder around 100-120 Kmph mostly. But the control of the car at 120 Kmph  is excellent. The car comes with the ABS by default and even at high speed cornerings or turnings, the car exactly tracks the path we would like it to goto. Thanks for the long wheel base and lengthier bonnet .

When it comes to a ’Fuel Efficiency’ following fig obtained. I have fitted my car with the Government Approved Gas Kit. Mileage: Highway: (AC off)   14.6~15.66  ( Autogas, LPG) Speed   80- 110 Kmph.                                  13.5 ~16.95 (Petrol) Speed  80-95KmphCity Limits:(AC)       9~10.5 Kmpl(Autogas, LPG)                                  9.5~12 Kmpl(Petrol) Note:These figures are better than the Accent 1.6, ikon 1.6 or baleno    To get best mileage figures from the Cielo , Clean airfilter every 2000Km, check for engine coolant oil, set idle engine speed at 800-900 Rpm, and shift the 5th gear for speeds of 40 Kmph or more.

Looks and styling:

The paint quality and interiors are in par with the latest cars. The clear coat black which my car posses still has the shine and clarity on it. I love my car in that aspect. I have seen my neighbours Ford Fiesta which is only 7 months old loses its charm day by day. Spares availability and service:     In chennai , where I live, spares are easily available. U can reach each and every part of the cielo in the GP Road, specifically in ’Mahaveer Automobiles’, chennai.  In all , I should say, a wonderful possession all through its existence with me.
