Dahanu kya?

Here I go again..People would be fairly disappointed if they think of Dahanu as a tourist destination or even confuse it with a weekend getaway with the likes of Harihareshwar or the likes. Dahanu is a simple stay by the beach to sink your toes in the sand, test your cricket or football worth, gargle coconut water, bite chic chickoos and so on..It’s not a place where you are going to be bowled by the scenery and lush surroundings. It’s not a place to cootchie coo with your Yin..It’s a place to purely chill with your friends, meditate in the presence of the sky, water and sand..The best feature of it is it’s rustic simplicity..Easy way to reach it is to board a train to Virar..another from there to Dahanu..Alternatively, catch the Ahmedabad highway and zoom by road. Last time we stayed at the MTDC resort (picnickers now are advised to check for the availibility of the same)..Rooms are very economic. Budget is light on the wallet..Food is average. Resort is fairly big. Enough space to kick ball, throw ball and play cricket. It is advisable to carry your own booze and water. For those who don’t get sozzled by the night are advised to carry Mortein or Tortoise mosquito mat. Best moment is in the night when the sky is a carpet full of stars..Utterly captivating at night to sit on the beach with or without beer and stargaze..see the shooting stars..music in the background, cool breeze playing with your body..Quality time for contemplation or just meditate listening to the waves..Go wild with Kundalini, Nadabrahma or Death style early morning..

In the mornings, you can watch the local fishermen at sea with their small boats setting sail and their canopies fluttering in the wind..their wives and children scampering in the water pushing boats..utterly content and concerned with just that..fishing..Pure bliss..unadulterated heat..the local nimboo sherbet tastes heavenly..Ye can watch the school kids make a fuss over you during their recess on the beach..In short no jazz..Totally recommended..For those used to comforts, a nearby hotel (hard to miss) will serve their needs nicely (range around 500-900 per couple), dabha style restaurant and Punjabi food..

Ended the trip by taking a walk inside the village surrounded by lush greenery, the occasional bullock cart disturbing the dusty road with the small bell warning you of their arrival and the neat, crusty, hurriedly made temple taking care of religion for some..People are very nice..very friendly and warm..Go ahead and enjoy..
