The Dangal vs Sultan battle has been on since the time both were declared. But now one more name got added to it – Shah Rukh Khan‘s Fan. With the numbers of Dangal trickling in, it’s getting clearer that Aamir Khan‘s film has failed to pass Salman and SRK’s films’ overseas market day 1 collection. Dangal already lost out to Sultan in terms of screen count and advance booking. An official statement revealed, “The North American market opened with night shows on Wednesday and collected a phenomenal USD 325 K(Rs 2. 21 crore). The Thursday collections are awaited and are estimated to clock over USD 500 K(Rs 3.39 crore). The Gulf market opened across 95 screens and is estimated to gross a massive Thursday at USD 685 K(Rs 4.65 crore) with some screens yet to report. UK Thursday previews grossed an impressive USD 171 K(Rs 1.16 crore) with 3 locations yet to report.” If you add the total of all these three key markets, you will realise that Dangal has already grossed Rs 11.41 crore on day 1. These are awesome numbers but not enough to beat Sultan Salman Khan and Fan SRK. Sultan had earned Rs. 20. 50 crore and Fan had earned Rs 18.32 crore.
Taran Adarsh had mentioned the numbers saying, “#Sultan – OVERSEAS: Wed$ 3.04 million, Thu$ 2.80 million, Fri$ 2.63 million. Total:$ 8.47 million [Rs 56.87 cr]. SUPERBBBB! #Sultan: Major chunk of revenue from Overseas has come from UAE-GCC [$ 3.75 million] and USA-CAnasultanda [$ 1.69 million]. Note: Wed to Fri biz.” Sultan was massive and this how it opened in the international markets. Bollywoodhungama had tweeted the first day overseas figures for Fan, which are higher than Dangal. It said, “#BoxOffice @BeingSalmanKhan & @AnushkaSharma ‘s #Sultan opening day of$ 3.04 mil [? 20.50 cr] in overseas BEATS @iamsrk FAN of$ 2.7 mil.”
But you have to remember only yesterday Salman himself had bowed down to Aamir. He had tweeted that he hates Aamir for making his family like Dangal more than Sultan. His exact words were, “My Family saw #Dangal today evening and thought it was a much better film than #Sultan. Love u personally Aamir but hate u professionally!” SRK is yet to come out with his verdict for the film but we are pretty sure he would like it too.
