Darjeeling the ugly queen of hills

Last winter I had visited Darjeeling. My Darjeeling journey started from Kolkata. A train journey of 568 Kms.  from Sealdah to New Jalpaiguri and then a journey by road of 80 Kms. from New Jalpaiguri to Darjeeling. I got my first experience  of displeasure when came out from the station. A group of touts and drivers came around us to choose their vehicles only.

Any way I managed to get my pre-booked taxi amidst a voice of illicit languages of those drivers and touts. Anyway the journey by road upto Darjeeling almost was a soothing one. As we have entered outskirts of Darjeeling. Again a group of touts came all around our taxi and literally putting pressure on us to go to their hotel. I somehow managed to go to my pre-booked hotel.

After that for next three days we stayed at Darjeeling faced the interference of touts in every steps. Even they say abusive language if we don’t have taken any particular service or product. However the toy train, the zoo, the tiger hill, a long journey by ropeway are definitely are memorable experience. But at last I will rethink twice to face the ugliness again to visit Darjeeling.
