Beautiful Darjeeling

I visited Darjeeling from Kolkata, it was decided overnight as I left by surface late evening from Kolkata. I changed my mode of transport the next day and after refreshing myself, hired a sharing jeep and with two mid way breaks reached the main town by noon. The scenic beauty was breathtaking and I was spellbound by the nature’s mystifying truth.

One must always plan in the visit and the best time is from December till March, in a year. Enough clothing is required at the top and one must take precautions from cold, flu. But additional reserves would help one survive.

Appropriate hotel resrvations should be done prior to leaving from the nearest destination.

Darjeeling, has its own beauty of whistling away in the east, a land of mist, blue skies, blue mountains, hills and a toy train. I felt very reserved when I first visited this small hill station. I travelled during end of January, 1998.

It was a breathtaking route by road from Jalpaiguri, wherefrom I went in a shared jeep. A trip from Darjeeling to Ghoom, the world’s second highest railway station. I stopped to feel the fresh air.

Next was the Tiger Hill, the rising sun melted the snow of the peak of Mt.Kanchenjunga. I travelled the next day to visit the Monastary which was a unique place of its kind.

I would recommend myself for another visit, as I feel it was an unfinished visit.
