First time readers of Michael Connelly would find the style of writing a bit different. But once you have read this book, you would feel like reading more books by the same author.
The book begins with Terry McCaleb, a retired FBI profiler being consulted on a case where a small-time criminal is found dead. While he is trying to get a profile on the possible character of the killer, the author runs a parallel story of yet another murder trial in progress in a Court.
The author has interwined the two stories and blended them so well, that as we read on, we somehow get a feeling that the two cases are related to each other.
The beauty of the novel is on the adept handling of the plot by the author. At times, especially towards the end, the story falters, yet is pulled together in a dramatic turn around that somehow makes you feel that this novel was written as a script for a Bruce Willis film.
