Today only, we, my wife, and I went to see DZH carrying the greatest of the hopes that if Mr. Ram Goal Varma is handling a horror movie, its got to be a real horror. Believe me I was desperately waiting for its release. Unfortunately enough, I found it to be not even a single penny worth! I would have rather seen a Ramsay brothers horror movie. At least initially I thought so. But, later giving it a better thought, I judged that it was the usual RGV style movie, with a heterogeneous mix of excellent, good and ordinary story line. No doubt the actors did the best they are capable or could have done but being a great fan of RGV, this movie has really disappointed me in and out, possibly because I was looking forward to this particular movie as the best RGV horror movie. But no, it wasn’t. I mean DZH has no comparison with Bhoot, Raat and Vastu Shastra. I still remember I could not sleep for at least 4-5 days after watching Bhoot. Even Darna Mana hai had something to offer. There were some interesting subjects that were dealt with. The message and the moral were loud and clear. It made some sense that college students went for an excursion outside the city. Here the tiny tots were made to loiter around a jungle, thereby reaching a bhoot bungalow. The stories involving Amitabh Bachchan and Ritesh Deshmukh episode, Nipasha and Arjun Rampal episode, Anil Kapoor and Mallika Sherawat episode would give the taste of fright to the viewers. The Randeep Hooda episode was more a revenge story than horror. It couldn’t scare at all. The Rajpal Yadav and Suniel Shetty episode was totally out of the way. If you really call it horror, then a glass tumbler suddenly breaking down in front of you is also horror! A car rushing towards your beloved is also horror! This kind of horror can be a good part of a story, but can’t have a story based on it. As far as the number of persons in the Cinema hall, it was a pathetic situation. There were only 13 persons (including both of us) out of a hall capacity of 500. Mathematically it is 2.6%.
