For all those who have watched Dasavatharam and tell that the story is too complex, here is the story in one line:
"Lovers separated by god in one generation, are re-united by god in another generation"
Those
who say the 12th century portrayal of the movie are irrelevant - Im
sorry, theyre totally off track. The first 20 mins and the last 20
mins are the most relevant parts of the story. The characters of prime
importance are Nambi and Govindarajan.
Agreed, the other 8
characters are hyped up, and there is no necessity that Kamal should
have acted in 10 roles. But hey, can you train a 90-year grandma to act
like that? Somebody has to don that role(atleast, a dupe). Why not
Kamal?
The intermediatory sequences of the movie, like the Dalit
heros story, the Singhs story, etc. - are the irrelevant parts. But
all of them work to push for the climax.
For
regular movie goers, there is the one line story. For movie buffs - you
can find a story each time you watch the movie. Anybody seen the
Matrix? Each time you see it, you can see different stories(see the
Animatrix if you crave for more). Same with Dasavatharam. You have a
clear, definitive story, and you have many branches. Take it as you
like it.
