Dasavatharam - Brain child of Kamal Hasan and K.S.Ravikumar and One of the most expected movie in Tamil Film Industry. It created hype among the people from the date it was announced. the duo did their best to meet the expectation.
The Movie starts with kamal Hasan Narrating the two episodes of the movie. The first Historic Episode takes us to 12th Century. First Kamal Appears as Rangaraja Nambi. He appears as a devotee to Lord Vishnu and in the clash between vaishnavites and saivites, he was drowned into sea along with idol of Lord Vishnu.
The second Episode brings us back to the 21st century dated December 20 2004, with the second Appearance of Kamal Hasan as GovindaRajan. One among the Biological Reaseach scientist who were involved in inventing new Biological weapon. Soon after that the Third Kamal Appears as President George Bush.
Unfortunately Dr.Govind finds out that his superior was trying to sell the Bio weapon and escapes with it. Fourth Kamal Appears at this part as Fletcher an X CIA and was hired to recover the Bio weapon. In the chase Dr.Govind’s friend and his friends wife ( a japan girl ) were murdered and Dr.Govind Escapes to india with the Bio weapon. Fifth Kamal appears as a Kunfu master in japan and happens to be brother of the japanese girl.
Fletcher continues his Chase with Dr.Govind to India to Recover the Bio Weapon with mallika sherawat as a translator. Now the Sixth Kamal Appears as Balram Naidu an Cop who handles enquiry with Dr.Govind. Seventh Kamal Appears as Avtar singh pop singer who unknowingly helps the escape of Dr. Govind and Fletcher out of Airport.
Unfortunately the BioWeapon got couriered to Chidambaram. Eighth Kamal appears as Krishnaveni an Old lady to whom the Bio weapon was couriered. she Unkowingly hides the weapon in Lord Vishnu Idol. Asin appears as GrandDaughter for krisnaveni and joins Dr.Govind to recover the Idol of Lord Vishnu.
In the second part of the movie kamal and asin got caught by the local contractor who does illeagal sand buisness. Nineth Kamal Appears as Vincent Boovaragan who fights against the illeagal sand Business. He doesnt even have much impact on the main plot but he escapes kamal and Asin. They face an accident on their journey to destroy the Bio weapon where the Tenth Kamal Appears as Kalif Ulla. The same Time the Kunfu master comes to india in search of Dr.Govind to avenge his sister.
The Bioweapon can be destroyed with NaCl( Sodium Chloride - common slat). Dr. Govind Tries to destroy the weapon by submerging it in sea. Fletcher continues his chase and captures the weapon. In the meantime the Kunfu master realises that govind was innocent and Fletcher was involved in her sisters killing and fights Fletcher. Fletcher who was cornered try to use the Biological weapon. Finally Tsunami takes him away along with the Biological Weapon and prevents the mass destruction.
None Other than Kamal Hasan would have taken such a Difficult Project. Hats-off for his confidence and innovation. Inspite of the Tremondous Effort from Kamal Hasan and K.S.Ravikumar. The movie Fails to meet the Expectation due to small mistakes. The additional sceens added for vincent boovarasan could have been avoided and could have concentrated on the main plot.
The Movie is like bits and pieces of many stories with one large piece of the main plot. The First Episode and Second Episode were linked by the chaos theory explained in the beginning of the movie by kamal hasan. if one looks in the eyes of chaos theory the movie would be masterpiece else just a chaotic story.
Kamal Hasan does his job perfectly in all the 10 characters and Nepolean suits best for the chola ruler. Asin though gave a good performance sometimes we might feel annoyed with her character. since Kamal Hasan covers most of the movie no other person has much important role to play.
