Why should you see Dasavatharam atleast twice? If you are a movie buff or even a casual movie goer, Dasavatharam is worth seeing twice even if you did not like it the first time. Here is what I felt after seeing the movie last night for the 2nd time.
The first time I saw I liked the movie but could not tolerate the “makeup” for various characters like Fletcher, Patti, Vincent Boovaragavan, Bush, Japanese, Habibulla and Avatar. The other 3 characters appealed to me the first time.
The second time when I watched the movie, the makeup did not bother and I was able to enjoy the dialogues and the body language of all these characters. Simply wonderful! It is just psychological. If you meet a person in real life with facial deformity - at first - we might not look straight in his face. But, once you get used to the person, the deformity or the ugliness does not matter and the person would appeal to you for who is.
This is the same effect with the “madeup characters” in Dasavatharam. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie second time and in my opinion - it ranks along Michael Madana Kamarajan or Pancha thanthiram - movies of Kamal - which you can enjoy anytime you see it. Dasavatharam has numerous little one liners - which you would obviously miss the first time.
Watch the “shoe - socks” phrase. Delivery is stupendous. Kamal - Asin pair has worked out very well inspite of the age difference. Asin is simply superb.
There is no reason to bash this movie. Excellent entertainer worth watching atleast twice. Second time is when you would appreciate the movie better!
