Dear Mr. Ghosn,
This is a letter from a senior cititzen. who has been driving cars in India for over 40 years. From Fiat to Hyundai to Maruti to Tata to Nissan, I have owned and driven many cars. I usually change cars every two years and buy the latest in the market. At my age, I no longer go for mid segment cars but I still follow cars passionately.
My latest car is the Datsun GO, (Date of purchase 5 april 2014
Car regn no TN O2 AZ 1697
Bought from AVENUE NISSAN DATSUN SRINIVASA CARS P LTD

While I could have bough any other new car, I was quite excited by this model. It talked about the newest technology, fuel consumption etc. I waited a few months for this model to launch and I was one of the first buyers in Tamil Nadu.
For a senior citizen, the most important factor is safety. And I was shocked to read the news items in the media recently about how the Datsun GO scores a zero on safety .The missive from Max Mosley clearly states the car cannot save adult passengers even if airbags are fitted in this vehicle.
I had assumed that for a high quality car maker such as you, safety would not only be a priority but a given. You had advertised the GO at an attractive price but I thought that was an aggressive market entry strategy. Now I realize that in keeping the price low you have compromised on basic safety standards.
You have failed the trust customers such as myself had in your product. By ignoring safety norms you have taken me for a ride. If there had been even a mention that the car would rank lower on safety compared to similar segment cars in the Indian market, I would not have bought it.
It is lucky that I have not had any accident so far but I shudder to think of what could have happened. I have stopped taking the car out on the roads since I read the articles.
I do not know how you plan to compensate me for the suppression of vital information( the car has been declared ‘totally unsafe’), endangering my life and betraying my trust. The least I would expect is(1) a full refund of the amount I paid(2) compensation for putting my life in peril knowingly(3) and a written letter of unconditional apology be given to me immediately.
I wait to hear from you at the earliest Yours sincerely
N.Raman
