Harassed by Dawar Open World

I had a very bad experience with Dawar’s Open world shop in the MGF plaza mall in gurgaon. This is specifically with their SAMSUNG shop, though I have read of complains from other people for their SONY shop in the same mall.


I will rate these guys -5 in customer service, honesty and providing new products according to the following scale (5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0, -1, -2, -3, -4, -5). their business model seems to be to buy defective products at cheaper price and then sell them at the market rate to ignorant customers.


I purchased a Samsung LCD Tv and a Samsung washing machine form them on 4 july. The TV was delivered on 5 july and the demo guy came on 6th. All this when I was assured it will be delivered on 4th itself as I had called the DTH guys for installation on the same day. But this is nothing compared ot what was about to come. They sent me a demo TV unit which had clear marks in the back where the TV is hung form the wall. The packet which contains the wires and remote was also torn. there were no battery for the remote and an accessory was missing. The dawar people flatly refused to accept it is a demo unit. I registered a complaint with Samsung and they sent their engineer who confirmed it was a demo unit. This made Dawar relent and agreed to change the unit.


On 4th July I had also purchased a SAMSUNG washing machine. the next day I got a call the machine I purchased was not in stock and they will tell me when I can get it. There was no followup from them. after 3-4 days I called again to check and they said this model will not come in a month or more and hence asked me to change my choice. I asked them to refund me the amount as I will go and purchase LG machine. They said it is not possible!!!!!!!!


I changed the model and bought something I didnt want to buy. They delivered this and again the machine delivered was defective. There are air bubbles in the lamination in front which spoils the look completely and also the machine is dented in the back. I called and even visited the Dawar’s World. The sotre keeper was very rude. His name is Raju Kumar. He said he has no authority to replace the unit and it cant be replaced. He refused to give me the owner’s number who has the authority to change this. I again registered a complaint with SAMSUNG who promptly sent an engineer to inspect and he agreed the machine should be replaced. Its more than 3 WEEKS now since I purchased the macine and still cant use it.


Samsung is also sleeping on this and it seems they are helpless in front of their own dealer. This is the sorry state of a company which plans to be the largest home appliances seller in this country. Pathetic. Everyone please buy LG products. The products are all same these days and its only the customer service which matters.


I am not sure whether Mr Dawar is a party to this and is aware of how his store is being run. If he is, it’s a very sad thing and I hope the consumer’s will boycott this store and eventually force these people to either shut down or mend their ways. India is a leading market for SAMSUNG and other brands. This is the time we consumers realize our power and show these organizations that we expect the same service which they deliver in USA or Europe. We are not pushovers that they can get away with our hard earned money by dumping stuff and offering poor services.


So buy from Dawars Open World chain at your own peril!
