Enticing characterisation

DAVID COPPERFIELD ... just yesterday, me and my buddy were talking about books .. all of a sudden I remembered this one .. and then it struck to me .. I remembered all of its details including every character in detail. It was one of the first books that I had read ... and I have remembered it still years after would be an indication of what glorious book it is. I wont spill the story .. because it would be an act of dishonour to the great author. I would however discuss on the characters and other aspects of books.

THE CHARACTERS:-

Rarely have I read a book in which every character has been described in detail and every one is some one you can visualize and relate to very easily. David’s mother is a beautiful, young widow. She is proud of her beauty .. and she is so innocent that you cannot but pity her state. The next character you come accross is the mysterious Miss Trotwood .. david’s aunt.... who had come at david’s birth but left like the ’’ discontended fairy’’ when she heard the child was a male. This would create an negative impact on your mind while relating to this character. But she is in reality a humorous person, very aristrocratic .. but for some reasons left untold .. she hates the male folk. There are many more characters .. like the nurse Peggoty, the coachman ... Mr. Barkis, Peggoty’s brother Mr. Peggoty, then there is emily, ham, tommy traddles, his step father Mr. Murdstone, Miss Murdstone .. all characterised very realistically and play an important role in the movie. But the 3 most powerful characters as per me are ...

Mr. and Mrs Micawbars.... a lovable trouble stricken old couple ... always on the move due to insolvency of debts ... he is a man who has seen it all .. the good side and the bad side .. and has many good advise for the young david. The character of Mr. Micawbar has been based upon Dicken’s own dad ... he too had ill luck with money ...

Then there is the villain Uriah Creep and his mother ... Uriah can be called an opportunist .. a brilliant one too ... he is depicted from the start as the villain.... I think this is one aspect of the book where the author judeged the character rather than letting the reader do so....

James Steerforth ... a rich person. unequalled in personality and acts of generosity .. and then he is the kind of boy you always wanted to be in the school life ... a perfect gentleman .. or so it seems ...

The art of story telling is beautiful .... many stories are interleaved into one ... but you would never lose track of those ... it is indeed one of the books I can re read any no. of times and not get tired. Those who havent read them ... I tell you to most certainly do ... you dont know what you are missing!!
