When I was growing up, my dad (and I think pretty much everyone elses) wore Old Spice. Even today, the scent of Old Spice brings feelings of security and well being. My all time favorite mens fragrance is Polo. I still recognize it instantly and the scent carries many fond memories. My husbands fragrance collection, when we first met, consisted of Avon colognes in shaped bottles and Aqua Velva. My husband comes from the more is better school of fragrance application so I knew Polo wouldnt be a good choice. I took a trip to the large department store fragrance counter and explained my need to the saleswoman. Cool Water she told me was exactly what I wanted. She was right.
Cool Water by Davidoff comes packaged in a slim blue bottle. Its fragrance is cool and with a vague citrus accent. My husband uses the shower gel and cologne in the morning and sometimes even the deodorant and yet never seems overscented. It is on the expensive side but I think well worth it. I usually buy it in the department store around holidays wheen they have premiums (spend a certain amount on that scent and get a set of travel sized items etc).
Ten years later its still his favorite. Davidoff has another light mens fragrance Good Life -that I occasionally buy for a change.
Just remember when buying fragrances for men or women, that scents will be different on different users and it is advisable to start with a sample or the smallest bottle available to make sure its smells as good on you as it does in the store.
