Recently my mother passed away leaving me very depressed and angry on these so called Doctors.
She was 80 yrs old but still strong enough to live few more years.
She was not feeling well. My brother took her to this DMC Hospital for check up and she was diagnosed with Cancer.
The doctor told my brother he will do the Bypass because she was not able to pass stool easily.
He thought it will be a some small surgery.
Once she came out of the extensive care unit into the ward There were two operations- One the Bypass in other words Colostomy and another big one from her Belly button straight down about 6 inch long cut stitched like a nasty sown bag.
Very ugly stitching job.
Within few days - Stitches on Both Incisions opened up, you could see intestines through the cut - Stoma the Bypass they call it also started moving.
They took her back into the operation theater again and restitched her both operations.
She was strong and took all this abuse.
I live in Canada - as soon as I was told by my brother what was going on - I booked my flight same day to come see my mother what she was going through.
Not that I could help her in this bad experience - but hoping that she will find some peace and be encouraged to see that her other son is also there.
The Surgeon who operated on her seem to be nice- Nurses were also nice -then what is wrong?
My mother suffered day and night AND PASSED AWAY IN A MONTH- It is all in front of my eyes- One of the stupid Junior doctor was trying to expand and squeeze the incisions to check if the skin was fused enough to remove the stitches. I asked the Surgeon about this practice - he replied - This is the way we check the incision has joined.
I felt like punching the face of these idiots - they call them self Professionals?
Large surgeries should be avoided with this old patients and should not be explored to train others.
The problem is with their training. Little training they get and start feeling like they are as good as God already - No one can question them for what they intend to do to the patients. They are incompetent and ignorant.
They should explain to the Patient exactly what they will do to him or her and not more before starting the treatment.
NO TRAINING ON THE PATENTS TO EXPLORE FURTHER THAN WHAT WILL BE DONE TO THE PATIENT.
I heard they teach students on older patients.
Patients must be treated with dignity and respect. I can not say you should not go to this Hospital but hope these Doctors get more training and start explaining to the patients exactly how they will help them.
