This movie tries to follow up from where Top Gun left except in cars. The same team that made that movie a success got together to create another pumped up movie.

Cruise plays Cole Trickle, a very cocky and smooth indy car driver that lost a ride and decided to head to NASCAR with team owner Tim Daland, (Randy Quaid), and be coached by legendary crew chief Harry Hogge (Robert Duvall). During the Daytona 500, Cole and nemesis Rowdy Burns are involved in a nasty wreck that hospitalizes both of them and threaten to end their careers. They become friends but Cole realizes that he must overcome his disabilities if he is to ever race effectively again.

Cruise is Cruise and he definitely has done an excellent job. So have Nicole and Robert Duvall. Watch the scene where he is handcuffed by the lady cop.

This has better romantic chemistry than Top Gun. Due in part to the fact that Cruise and Kidman really were attracted to each other and we know the rest. She looks great as usual. The action scenes are great and filmed superbly. It’s also a very loud movie. It received an Oscar nomination for best sound. I believe it’s a well made movie.. Gets your adrenalin flowing especially during the car races..

One of the standing achievements of the movie are its collection of sound tracks..

Below are the highlights of the audio track.

’’GIMME SOME LOVIN’’’

’’BREAK THROUGH THE BARRIER’’

’’YOU GOTTA LOVE SOMEONE’’ (Elton John)

’’THUNDERBOX’’

’’SHOW ME HEAVEN’’

’’KNOCKIN’ ON HEAVEN’S DOOR’’ (Not the Guns n Roses rendition. A different rendition of the same song)

And of course the title song ’’THE LAST NOTE OF FREEDOM’’ by David Coverdale’’

If you get the audio, u will be breathless.

They speak volumes for the movie...

Trivia:

Cars designed specifically for the movie officially raced at Phoenix and Darlington, with Greg Sacks driving Cole Trickle’s City Chevrolet car in both races. Bobby Hamilton drove Rowdy Burns’ Exxon car at Phoenix, while Hut Stricklin drove it at Darlington. None of the cars finished their races, but Hamilton did lead 5 laps in his before an engine failure.

Tom Cruise received a speeding ticket for doing 85 in a 55 mph zone while working on this movie.

It was during the filming of this movie that Tom Cruise, then married to Mimi Rogers, fell in love with Nicole Kidman. They were married later the same year.

Sounds familiar especially if u have watched Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar.. Some of Aamir’s mannerisms if you have noticed..
