I made my first shopping with dealsandyou.com on 20th March 2011 and read the first review, ironically on mouthshut.com, on 22nd March 2011. To be honest, I thought I had been fooled by a fraud online company. This fear was further amplified after their customer care number (0124)-4734777 was not reachable (sometimes unavailable, sometimes non-existent and very rarely busy)!
The purpose of my writing this review is to make an attempt that others, unlike me, do not suffer the trauma of remaining in absolute darkness after the money has been debited from your credit cards and you remain clueless about the proceedings!
I had ordered a Blackberry mobile phone through the site. I received my handset in 15 calendar days. The phone seems be working fine - thought at this moment, I have merely opened the case and kept the same on charging.
Cutting the long story short, the following are my comments on dealsandyou.com:
(i) Customer care is almost never reachable. In the worst case, I made about 45 odd calls sequentially to reach their customer care. It essentially wiped off 1 hour of my time. So, the number isnt fraud. It exists, but I reckon they have too few staff handling the calls. Plus if your call isnt picked answered in about 1.5 min, the IVR automatically drops it.
(ii) Very poor co-ordination between the customer care and logistics executives. You can almost never be optimistic of getting any useful (read tracking) information about your orders. Just yesterday evening, I was told that my Blackberry is yet to be dispatched. It would be done in "next lot" as the "inventory had got over". The customer care, in consultation with logistic department could not confirm the exact date of dispatch. Guess what? I already got my mobile today! So what were they blabbering last evening? Your guess is as good as mine!
(iii) Poor communication. Those who are used to shopping in amazon.com and ebay are in for some rude surprise. There is almost negligent communication on the status (tracking) of the order. Infact, all one would know that ones order is confirmed (payment made). However, the actual delivery is something no one could comment on.
Overall Verdict:
Dealsandyou.com definitely provides great bargains! But the company has certain serious issues to fix. It is definitely not a shopper’s delight. Infact the experience is on the contrary. The sooner they can work towards the above problems, the more customers they shall be able to gain.
If you have the money and time to spare, go for this website. I would assume, slowly but surely they would deliver their stuff! But be prepared for waiting and for a lot of uneventful phone calls.
Would I shop again at dealsandyou.com? Not now! I would rather wait for say 6 more months by which (hopefully) the systems would improve. All said and done, I feel this website has a great potential. So I shall remain watchful on the deals as well as on other reviews about dealsandyou.com
