As the title of this review reflects, Dear Zindagi is definitely a new age classic. A must watch for young generation, parents as well as everyone who can understand or atleast will try to understand the deep essence of this movie.
Masses will not gonna enjoy this movie.
Masses - Group of people who come to watch movie for Dhinchak Dhinchak songs, Use less Vulger comedy , sense less action ( specilly who completely let the laws of physics on air) and last but not the list chopy scenes and funky dialogues which have no relation to real world.
If you come in this category please stay away from this movie, its not for you. Because you will either get bore or you will make others irrited by your bakwaas comments during deeper scenes of Dear Zindagi.
Dear Zindagi is very close to real life. And off course real life is not so happening. Its far away from reel life. Real life is full of confusions , irritations , sense less things, daily routine, heartbreaks , unknown dreams, blurred ambitions and most important , its full of rat race. People are just going after things, which they actually dont know if its good for them or not, they just running because everyone else are. Human being is social animal, if something he or she do which is not normal or can say out of the box , he or she feels they will be highlighted with wrong judgements by people. People who actually dont know or they dont care what he or she is up to. And still that he or she get afraid of that and they just try to be normal, which actually is abnormality. No one want to be out of that invisible boundary.
Kayra ( Alia Bhatt) is this new age independent ambitious beautiful young girl. But somewhere she is afraid of things that the people around her will eventually leave her ( due to her bad childhood moments ) . And this thought makes her to get over from her relationships much before it can work out. She feels difficult to cope up with her relationships. She just gets over from one and then get in to other and again get over from that and again in to others and so on. She simply have forgotten few facts , what exactly she want, what exactly she is afraid of and what actually she has problem with and what will make her deal with all the confusions of life ( love life, family, carrier, friends , inner happiness etc) . Eventually she gets landed to therapy sessions of Jahangir Khan ( Shahrukh) who eventually help her out to understand what her problem is and how she can deal with all her issues, in very gentle way. Thats it , this is the story of Dear Zindagi.
But guys the way Alia has portrayed the character of Kyra is absolutely at her best. You cant get off your eyes from her expressions and the way she through each emotions by her eyes and body language. Its really one of the most difficult character to play and Alia has did it effortlessly. Bravo Alia ! Respect ! Love ! No words ! Shahrukh as usual at his tows. One of his effortless performance too. And other characters such as Alias friends , love pals, family members done a pretty decent job.
Last but not the least at all ! All credit goes to Gauri Shinde. Who not only had directed this new age classic but also has written it. Its not only difficult film to act but to direct and write too. Because there was much chance that it would have been gone too much and wrong. But Gauri Shinde, after English Vinglish, it was expected that you are best at your job. And indeed you proved it !
My Verdict - Must Watch ( 4/5)
