I subscribed for both Deccan Herald and Financial Chronicle on 2nd of 2010 - thought I would have a great start for new year (there was a host of prizes being offered through lucky draw etc) by winning something big.
Well it was just a start of my travails.
My newspapers started coming in only in March and that too after several followups with their Hyderabad number (Bangalore number is a namesake - dial it if u are keep to spend time on the tring trings). Would have spent at least Rs.30-40 on the calls. I found to my surprise that FC is not regular. The newspaper vendor cited that there was supply issue, later he started saying that he had put it. Well in my earlier 2 years of stay at the same house noone had taken TOI or ET. Well FC might have some specialist thieves.
Seems like the paper reaches late - which is why it would arrive later - so in case u leave for office before 7.30, well forget reading the paper in the morning.
Then the third hit happened - I had to move my residence. Its end of April and am still awaiting the dawn of the day they renew my subscription. The DH person doesn’t read mails, so no use sending mails etc. Finally after reaching him, he requested for messaging my old address, new address, news agent delivering at my residence etc etc. Well the message itself took me 20 minutes to write in my mobile, well - I followed up with him after two days he had not got it. My mistake I should have checked with him the same day.
After getting the message, another 5-6 days of wait - they can start the delivery only on a Monday. I was stupid to put my request on Monday.
Well, the paper is good, but I think the newspaper is not good enough to support its promotion. I feel I should have relied on the reliable new paper boy. At least you have someone who listens and one doesn’t end up paying for the papers one did not receive.
I have seen the last of the DC subscription.
