Speed & Punctuality are what separates this train from the rest. Covering a distance of 192 km in 3 hours 25 minutes this train is a blessing in disguise for daily commuters between Pune & Mumbai. The Railways too understand the importance of this prestigious train and come what may the 2124 up Deccan Queen always chugs into V.T. station at 10:40 a.m. sharp.
Some 3 decades ago, this train used to cover the distance between Mumbai & Pune in 2 hours 40 minutes but due to the increasing suburban traffic and extra number of coaches its speed has had to be slowed down.
However at her peak this train is simply amazing. Nothing is more fascinating than sitting in this train and feeling the electrifying speed as it thunderbolts through numerous stations on its way to Pune.

Hey some good news for rail enthusiasts...with the express highway offering some stiff competition to mumbai-pune rail traffic, there are plans to reduce the travel time of deccan queen to 3 hours...so more speed and more fun !
