Was surprised that there wasn’t a single review for this movie, so decided to do something about it.
Set in 1939, during the Second World War, this movie tells the real life story of the Bielski Brothers. The story starts with the Nazi invading and occupying their Polish village. The 2 brothers manage to evade death and escape to a nearby forest, only to discover later that most of their clan wasn’t so lucky. They decide to hide and try to survive in the forest, but are soon joined by more jews fleeing from the German army. Thus begins a struggle for survival & to avoid being detected. I do not want to dwelve further into the story, but the events that unfold do make for interesting viewing.
Is this a movie you should watch? Yes. most definitly. Its a story so sad that it pulls at your heart-strings. It makes you cringe, it makes you wonder about the cruelty that men do unto each other. And above all, its a story of surviving against all odds.
