Delhi -39, is located in the heart of Madhapur. Though I travel this stretch on a daily basis, the never knew that it existed here. Its rave reviews from my friends and colleagues left me with no choice, but to ensure that I visit this place soon. Having friends who are ardent non veg lovers can be a big pain. They see a all veg restaurant with utter disgust and waste of money. I have recently changed sides from being a pure veggie to someone who now hogs mostly at non veg outlets. But despite of this, my cravings for a good veg stuff never ended.
After searching for someone who would accompany me to Delhi 39, I zeroed on to a colleague who was one of the 1st to give a very positive review to Delhi 39. On deciding to eat out for dinner, we mutually agreed upon Delhi 39.
The place wore a deserted look on Friday evening. I mean there were only a couple of tables occupied. I think it had to do more with the festive season round the corner and people might have left to their respective homes.
We immediately ordered Gobi manchurian dry for starters, paneer tikka masala, rajma masala, 2 masala kulchas and fried rice for main course. We also got some curd to go along with the rajma chawal. We had specifically asked to get starters first, then the main course. And then the wait started. It took an arduous 15 minutes before the starter arrived. While we were still putting the gobi manchurian onto our place, the rest of the order also made it way on our table and suddenly it was flooded with food.
The gobi manchuria was indeed good, made with love I thought. The gravy and the garnish not only made it look but also taste different and delicious. The paneer tikka was decent, nothing special to talk about, but the masala kulcha was the pick of the day. Extremely tasty and probably one of the dish because of which I will return back to this place time and again. The rajma and jeera rice were good too. But till the end I kept savoring the taste of masala kucha I just had.
Despite of the excess amount of food we ordered, the bill was not a big surprise. It came as a mere Rs 500 and that included the charges for packing of the left over food.
